SUMMARY: The Nurse Supervisor, under the direction of the Medical Director will collaborate with all members of the health care team to develop and maintain high quality nursing care. The Nurse Supervisor will be accountable for directing and coordinating the delivery of patient care and the general functioning of the organizational goals through cooperative efforts with staff.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITES:
- Report problems and concerns to the Medical Director and Clinic Coordinator as necessary. Significant issues will be immediately communicated to the Medical Director and Health Director.
- Apply problem solving principles in care delivery process for continuous improvement
- Serves on nursing and facility committees as appropriate
- Will coordinate care and collaborate with other professional disciplines and departments as needed to optimize patient outcomes
- Communicate necessary information to facilitate continuity of patient care.
- Make recommendations concerning developmental needs of staff
- Assist in the updating of the policies and procedures of the medical clinic.
- Follow protocols with the medical clinic area
- Admit patient to clinic area and obtain pertinent medical history
- Helping other identifies and correct log jams in the systems and communication
- Assist Physicians, Nurse Practitioner and PA’s with all procedures and treatments
- Assist Nursing Staff and non-medical staff with questions and problems
- Document notes in electronic health records in a timely manner
- Administer medication and treatments as ordered by the physicians, nurse practitioner or physician’s assistant, participate in planning of treatment within scope of practice
- Respond to emergency situations as needed
- Triage walk-in and phone calls
- Ensure schedules are coordinated for delivery of services and time off is approved in ADP
- Will be in a Saturday rotation with other staff nurses
- Ensure duties are delegated for opening and closing of the medical clinic
- Ensure all logs are completed daily, weekly and monthly as required by policies
- Monitor the input of vaccines in specified software to ensure deadlines are met
- Other duties appropriate to the efficient operation of the medication clinic and within scope of practice.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: Observe staff performance, resolve interpersonal problems among staff, and adjust staff schedules according to changing workload. Provide supervision of nursing personnel (RN’s, LPN’s, Patient Navigator, and Community Health Representatives) within scope of practice; to insure the effective delivery of direct patient care.
Will be responsible for performance evaluations, competency checks and scope of practices.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
- Registered Nurse with NYS licensure AND
- Combination of 6 years clinical and supervisory experience in nursing.
- Registered Nurse from accredited nursing program, current NYS licensure AND
- Three (3) years acute care experience AND
- One (1) year supervisory experience as a nurse preferred.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) or ability to obtain within 60 days of employment.
OTHER SKILLS and ABILITIES: Communication both orally and written, Mohawk language and traditions is preferred, physically able to carry out the duties of the position, CPR certification and confidentiality. Positively influence others through knowledge, attitude and dedication to nursing team and other health service employees
