The Tribal Clerk's office is responsible for managing tribal membership.
Procedures for Applying for Membership
In order to become a tribal member, your eligibility for enrollment will be determined upon completion of the application in accordance with the 25% Akwesasne Mohawk blood quantum requirement. A four generation biological family tree must be submitted with the application. Please include tribal enrollment numbers of parents and/or grandparents as proof of membership with the Saint Regis Mohawk Tribe. Provide original birth certificate with biological parents' names listed. Canadian births: The long-form birth certificate is required. If married/divorced, provide a copy of marriage certificate or divorce decree, if your name does not match your birth certificate or if you have requested a name change.
A completed application can take up to 90 days to process. Incomplete applications will not be accepted. Falsified information will be grounds for denial of enrollment.
New applications for membership must be made by coming into the office Monday to Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. or calling (518) 358-2272.

Membership Fees:
A non-refundable fee of $20.00 USD (cash/credit/debit) must be submitted with your membership application.
If you choose to enroll by mail, send a money order addressed to the Saint Regis Mohawk Tribe with the membership application and required attachments. Personal checks are not accepted.
Upon acceptance, a certification letter will be mailed or e-mailed to you.
At this time, you may come in to receive your Tribal ID card. If you reside out of the area, please contact the office and request a Tribal I.D. renewal application to be mailed or emailed to you or download from the Member's Portal.
What are the fees for Tribal ID Cards?
· Upon acceptance, the enrollment fee includes your FIRST Tribal ID card.
· Renewing your Tribal ID card after expiration (five years) or a lost card will be $10.
· Cards for enrolled senior members (68 and older) are free of charge.

Kahwatsi:re Akwesasne Genealogy and Historical Society - Non-profit, volunteer organization conducts research. Fees depending on type and level of search. Email kahwatsire1@gmail.com to have an application form sent to you.
Frequently Asked Questions
How long is my Tribal ID card good for? Most cards must be renewed every five years. Renewals for elders over 68 years of age are free.
Some of my family mentioned they received mail from the Tribe. Why didn't I? Remember to inform the Tribal Clerk's office when you change address or phone numbers or your marital status changes. You should also notify the Tribal Clerk when a Tribal member passes away or when you have an addition to your family.
Can I renew my ID card by mail? Yes, contact the Tribal Clerk's office to request the form and instructions.
