The Housing Subsidy supports and coordinates services for adults with developmental disabilities who wish to live independently. One of the services we offer is the Individual Supports and Services (ISS) Housing Subsidy.
The ISS Housing Subsidy is an OPWDD program that provides financial support to income eligible people with developmental disabilities who choose to live in the community.
In order to receive an ISS Housing subsidy, the person with disabilities needs to be the lease holder, financially and legally responsible, for his or her housing unit. The person can live alone or with caregivers or roommates. People living with family members or others as a dependent are not eligible. The person supported is expected to contribute approximately 30% of his or her income towards housing costs. The ISS Housing Subsidy covers the difference up to the maximum allowable. The ISS subsidy may also cover other housing costs, such as first time start up, a deposit or moving expenses.
